| History | Kushima Castle was built by Omura Yoshiaki in 1598 and completed one year later. It never had a large main keep. The castle was built on a small peninsula of land giving it natural protection by the ocean on three sides. It also had three stone piers built in for docks to take advantage of sea trade. After the Meiji Restoration it was dismantled in 1871. | |
