Notes
History Ar the same time that Fushimi Castle was decommissioned, Matsudaira Hidetada ordered Matsudaira Sadatsuna to build a new castle here to fortify southern Kyoto. The stone walls made use of stones from Fushimi Castle. The main keep of Fushimi Castle was also scheduled to be moved here but at the last minute it was moved to Nijo-jo while the smaller keep of Nijo-jo was moved here. The castle burned down in the Battle of Toba-Fushimi in 1868.
