Edo Castle
江戸城
| Description | Fujimi Yagura is a 3 story yagura situated along the edge of one of the moats protecting the honmaru. After the original tenshu burned down the Tokugawa used this as a tenshu. It is said that this yagura was in a good position for the shogun to view Mt. Fuji (thus the name) and the Sumidagawa fireworks. This is one of the few remaining structures of the original Edo-jo to survive all the disasters that have come to the castle. This picture is taken from near the imperial palace on the Emperor's Birthday for ippan sanga when people are allowed into this part of the castle. |
