| Description | This is a view of the moat you cross at the Kitahanebashi gate. It is located directly behind the original tenshu. You can only see the top part of the inside wall of this moat, but if you compare it to the size of the treetops along the moat you can get an idea of how massive it is. The stones are simply fit together and not cemented in place. This is what made them able to withstand the earthquakes and last until today with little or no repair. |
