Mikawa Castle
From Jcastle.info
History
In 1426 the Edo Clan took over Mito and their retainers took charge of many surrounding castles to be employed as satellite fortifications in defence of the Edo's main base. Mikawajō was one of these. After the fall of Odawarajō to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Hideyoshi's allies, the Satake Clan, with support from the Ōtomo Clan of Hitachi, attacked the Edo at Mitojō, overwhelming it. Minor outlying fortifications like Mikawajō then fell in rapid succession. It is not entirely clear when Mikawajō was destroyed and abandoned but it was likely during this conflict.
Visit Notes
Was rather overgrown and hard to access when I visited
