History

Takai Castle was one of the smaller castles in the network of fortifications around Moriya Castle. The Takai clan were the lords of this castle. They are likely Soma clan members who took their name from the name of the district. The castle was abandoned after the Hojo and their allies (including the Soma at Moriya Castle) were defeated.

Visit Notes

There are more ruins than you may expect to see from these photos or descriptions. It is well worth visit if you are nearby especially if you combine it with a stop at Moriya Castle.
主郭と三つの小曲輪が残っているので、意外に遺構があります。近くにいる時は寄ってみる価値があります。近くにも守谷城 もあるのでセットで見てみたいです。
