History

Fukutakejō was the main base of the Akizuki Clan during the Sengoku Period. In the Early Edo Period Fukutakejō was demolished in accordance with the bakufu's one castle per domain edict. In the Edo Period, with the move to the plain and the expansion of Akizuki Castle Town, a belltower-turret was erected here to keep the time for the townspeople. Now it is the site of a shrine.

Visit Notes

I ascended the mount from the backyard of the Tashiro-bukeyashiki and came down by the shrine's causeway.
