Hosokawagonsui Castle
From Jcastle.info
History
Hosokawagonsuijō was a satellite fortification of Hosokawaonmaedajō. Hosokawagonsuijō was built on high ground near a confluence of the Yahagi and Tomoe rivers. The fort defended the main residence of Hosokawa Yoshitaka to the south, as well as managing and storing goods imported via river boats.
Visit Notes
Hosokawagonsuijō is an early medieval fort site in Hosokawa Township, Okazaki Municipality. The site of the fort is thought to have been where the temple Renshōin is today. To the northwest, hemmed between rising terrain and the Yahagi River, is the site of a guard house to monitor traffic in the Edo period; though the two sites are far apart in time periods.
