Nakatsumori Yakata

History
Oyamada Nobuari, a vassal of the Takeda Clan, built Nakatsumori-yakata as his residence in 1527. The residence burnt down just three years later, however, and the clan relocated their main base to Yamura Castle (after temporarily residing at the Oyamada-shi Bessō) in 1532. Oyamada Nobushige was the son of Nobuari, and he became a celebrated general beneath Takeda Shingen. It was the Oyamada Clan who infamously betrayed Takeda Katsuyori at the gates of Ôtsukijō in 1582, leading to his ultimate downfall. This gesture of theirs, however, proved useless, as Oda Nobutada anyway had them executed at Kai-Zenkōji.
Visit Notes
No clear ruins remain of Nakatsumori-yakata, a fortified manor hall of the Oyamada Clan, and the site is now occupied by fields, cemeteries and temples: Yōtsuin below is the family temple of the Oyamada, and the cenotaphs of Oyamada clansmen can be found at Keirinji above. The site offers good views of the plain.
