Asonuma Castle

History

The Asonuma clan were a branch of the Sano clan with holdings throughout the area. Asonuma castle was a small castle with a single earthen embankment and trench around the square compound. It was abandoned in 1614 when the Sano were reassigned.

Visit Notes

Only a small part of the trench and embankment behind the Asanuma Hachimangu shrine remain today.
