Ohkouchi Castle (Mikawa)
From Jcastle.info
History
Minamoto Yorimasa and his son, Minamoto Kanetsuna, were killed at Uji in 1180; Kanetsuna's infant son was restored to his mother's home village in Nukata County, Mikawa Province, and became Ôkōchi Akitsuna, founder of the Ôkōchi Clan (it is said). At some point the Ôkōchi Clan built Ôkōchijō and used it as their fortified residence. Ôkōchi Kinbē was the lord of Ôkōchijō in the Sengoku period.
Visit Notes
Ôkōchijō is a fortification site in the periurban Hora Township of Okazaki Municipality. No confirmed ruins remain, and the site is now the Okazaki Interchange on the Tōmei Expressway. The specific neighbourhood, which contains really just a loop of the interchange, is called Ôkōchijō.
