Watanabe Yashiki (Mikawa)
From Jcastle.info
History
Watanabe-yashiki was the fortified residence of the Watanabe Clan. The Mikawa-Watanabe Clan was founded by Mikawa Tsunashi, according to clan tradition, and they were vassals of the Matsudaira Clan. In the 16th century Watanabe Moritsuna served Tokugawa Ieyasu as the castellan of Mikawa-Terabejō. The yashiki was inhabited up until 1590 at the latest.
Visit Notes
Watanabe-yashiki is the site of a medieval fortified residence in Kashiyama Township, Okazaki Municipality, but no ruins remain. The site is now a small temple. It has short stone walls, but these do not date to the time of the yashiki. I suppose they represent the conditioning of a slope at the foot of a mountain, a typical setting for a yashiki.
